Plantation

  1. Site Selection: Choose a location with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. The site should have well-draining soil and good air circulation.
  2. Soil Preparation: Amend the soil with organic matter like compost, aged manure, or peat moss to improve drainage and nutrient content.
  3. Planting: Dig a hole twice as wide and slightly deeper than the root ball. Position the rose so the graft union is 1-2 inches above the soil line in colder zones and at soil level in warmer zones. Fill in the hole and gently firm the soil around the plant.
  4. Spacing: Space plants 24-36 inches apart to allow for good air circulation and growth.
  5. Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and continue to water deeply once or twice a week during the growing season.

Growing

  1. Fertilization: Apply a slow-release, granular rose fertilizer in early spring, and follow with additional feedings every 4-6 weeks during the growing season.
  2. Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring, removing dead or damaged canes and thinning out the plant to promote better air circulation.
  3. Pest and Disease Control: Monitor plants regularly for signs of pests or diseases. Use insecticidal soaps, neem oil, or chemical pesticides to control common rose pests such as aphids, spider mites, and Japanese beetles. Treat fungal diseases like blackspot, powdery mildew, and rust with fungicides.

Care

  1. Mulching: Apply a 2-3 inch layer of organic mulch around the base of the plant to conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and maintain soil temperature.
  2. Deadheading: Remove spent blooms to encourage further flowering and maintain a tidy appearance.
  3. Winter Protection: In colder zones, protect the graft union by mounding soil around the base of the plant or using a rose cone. Remove winter protection in early spring.
