Plantation

  1. Selection of Planting Site: Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil, preferably with a pH of 5.5 to 7.5. Ensure the site is protected from strong winds and frost.
  2. Planting Season: The ideal planting season for Kothapalli Kobbari mango trees is during the monsoon, between June and August.
  3. Spacing: Maintain a distance of at least 8-10 meters between trees for proper growth and fruit production.
  4. Planting Method: Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball, place the sapling, and refill the hole with a mixture of soil and organic matter. Water the plant immediately after planting.

Growing

  1. Watering: Water the tree deeply and regularly during the first year to establish a strong root system. Once established, water the tree during periods of drought or extreme heat.
  2. Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer every 6-8 weeks during the growing season. Use a slow-release, organic fertilizer for optimal results.
  3. Pruning: Prune the tree during the dormant season to maintain a manageable size, remove dead or diseased branches, and encourage fruit production.

Care

  1. Pest Control: Inspect the tree regularly for pests such as mealybugs, aphids, and scale insects. Use organic or chemical pesticides as needed.
  2. Disease Prevention: Monitor the tree for common mango diseases like anthracnose, powdery mildew, and mango malformation. Implement preventative measures such as proper watering, pruning, and sanitation.
  3. Fruit Thinning: To ensure the tree produces larger and better-quality fruits, consider thinning the fruit clusters when they are small.
