Plant Description:

- The species got its name from Sanskrit Asoka.
- A handsome medium sized, evergreen tree.
- 6-8 m tall. Often seen as a shrub.
- Trunk erect, short, covered with a smooth, dark brown bark.
- Origin- India and Thailand.
- Makes good bonsai. Plants look very pretty when in bloom.
- This plant is the symbol for purvashadha nakshatra.
